BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE OF CANANDAIGUA WHILE HONORING THE PAST

The Canandaigua Democratic Committees are committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of life in our community. This starts with protecting Canandaigua Lake and its watershed. The lake is our most important natural asset. It is the foundation of our community's history and future. Besides its natural beauty, the lake is the drinking water reservoir for over 60,000 people and the recreational destination for the region's tourism industry. It must be preserved for future generations.

As we face the increased pressure for future development, we need to ensure that we do not destroy the unique qualities that make this a great place to live.  We need an integrated Town and City plan to guide development in our community.  Short-term economics should not outweigh long-term vision.

We need to explore new ways to lower taxes. Increased partnering with surrounding municipalities can lower costs and provide more efficient delivery of essential services.

Canandaigua must preserve its identity as a rural agricultural community with a strong and vibrant downtown.
