Board In Action - September 2, 2008

Here are the highlights from the September 2, 2008, Town of Canandaigua Board meeting.

There were no public hearings.

Privilege of the Floor: Several Town residents from County Road 16 wanted the Board to investigate and stop the owner of another County Road 16 residence from operating a commercial enterprise (hotel or bed and breakfast) in a residential district. They presented evidence that they said proved their assertion. The Board agreed to turn over the evidence to the Code Enforcement Officer to investigate.

Committee Reports:

  • Fire Committee: Still working with the City to address our future joint fire protection needs and concerns.

  • Comprehensive Plan Committee: The Committee is looking for interested residents to work on this committee. They expressed the desire to have all areas of the Town represented, as well as input from our surrounding communities. So far, there has been little response to a posting on the Town Web site and a newspaper ad to solicit volunteers.

  • Parks and Recreation Committee: Updating of the Pierce Park playground equipment is now complete. Onanda Park is now open for canoe and kayak launching. For more information on boat launching and fishing regulations, contact the Town of Canandaigua's Parks Maintenance Supervisor at 585–396–2752.

Resolutions: The Board agreed to authorize the Supervisor to approach the Ontario County Planning Department to take over as project manager for the Wyffels PDR grant application.
