Board In Action - September 16, 2008

Here are the highlights from the September 16, 2008, Town of Canandaigua Board meeting.

The meeting was delayed three hours while the Board met in executive session.

Public Hearings: The Board approved amending the zoning map to reflect the proper zoning of land acquired in a land swap with the city on North Street. They continued the public hearing until the October 7, 2008, meeting on the expenditure of up to $205,875.00 from the open space capital reserve fund for purchase of up to 25 acres from the Miller farm off Bristol Road/Route 21 South and Bliss Road.

Privilege of the Floor: The Board passed a resolution referring possible conflict of interest charges against the Supervisor to the Ontario Ethics Board for their opinion. They also passed a resolution asking for the resignation of the Planning Board Attorney, and if he refuses, the Planning Board is to ask for his resignation. That resolution also authorizes the Town Board to either cut off funding for the Planning Board Attorney or disbanding that Board if they do not dismiss their Attorney.

Committee Reports:

  • Fire Committee: Still working with the City to address our future joint fire protection needs and concerns. No progress to report.

  • Comprehensive Plan Committee: Next meeting on September 30, 2008, at 7:00 PM, at the Town Hall.

  • Parks and Recreation Committee: Tree planting is in progress at Fire House Park (Route 332 behind the Town/City Fire Station). The highway crews are also working on walking trails at that location.

Resolutions: The Board passed several housekeeping resolutions including authorizing Planning Board members to attend training and putting the procedure in place to review and adopt the code change analysis provided by General Code.
